Macpower Unveils its Newest Line of 2.5” Portable SATA Enclosures

April 11, 2007, Taipei, Taiwan – Macpower, industry leading manufacturer of external storage devices and digital media products, today announced its latest line of portable 2.5” SATA hard drive enclosures, the Daisy Cutter (DC-SATA) series. Up till now the very popular Daisy Cutter series was only compatible with IDE hard drives. However, this latest line of portable enclosures features SATA hard drive technology in a variety of different interfaces.

The DC-SATA 800+ is powered by an Oxford 924 DSB chipset bridging the SATA hard drive to a triple interface design incorporating FireWire 400, FireWire 800, and High Speed USB 2.0. The DC-SATA USB 2.0 utilises a JMicron 20339 chipset featuring a High Speed USB 2.0 port that is not only used for convenient data transfer but also allows the enclosure to be bus powered so there is no need for an extra power adapter. The DC-SATA s2 has a JMicron 20316 chipset that connects a SATA hard drive to both an eSATA and commonly used High Speed USB 2.0 interface.

DC-SATA’s aluminum casing material is not only extremely durable, but also dissipates heat during long hours of operation. Its slim compact design and plug and play capabilities makes file transferring and data back up convenient both at the PC and on the go.

The DC-SATA 800+, DC-SATA USB 2.0 and DC-SATA s2 are available now at Macpower partners across the globe. The DC-SATA series will also be available for OEM projects, and Macpower welcomes any requests from OEM partners.
