FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions - Knowledge Base

Can I play DAT files?

Basically NO, a DAT file will not be recognized by MovieStar/Mvisto but if you copied the DAT file from a VCD as an example, you can simply rename the extension DAT to MPG and it will playback on your portable player as MPEG-1 movie.

Example: Original filename is "spain.dat", rename it to "spain.mpg" and that's it.

Note
If you can not see the file extension on your PC, go to Folder Options and choose the Tab "View". Turn of the setting "Hide extensions for known file types" and you should be able to see the extension.
