Operating System only see 2.2TB of total capacity.

Problem:
Operating system only sees 2.2TB of total capacity when enclosure is in RAID 0 mode with large volume support enabled, even when the enclosure LCD displays larger capacity.

Reason:
The Operating System does not support large volumes over 2.2TB (e.g. Windows XP or older and Mac OS 10.3 or older) or the drive has previously been formatted with a smaller partition.

Solution:
Make sure your Operating System supports large volumes (e.g. Windows Vista or above and Mac OS 10.4 or above).

  1. Change the RAID Mode to RAID 1 and confirm it. This will erase the existing MBR and you can create a new partition.
  2. Change the RAID Mode back to RAID 0 and confirm it. Again, this will erase the existing MBR and now the drive is ready for a new and large volume.
  3. When you initialize the drive on Windows, make sure to select the GPT (GUID Partition Table) option to support the large volume. Go to our Information Center for more information about formatting the drive.

Note:
Before changing the RAID mode, make sure you have a backup of all your data in a different location. Also, go to our Support section and make sure your device is using the latest firmware.
